Munro Footwear Group CEO, Jay Munro, paid tribute to his brother following the announcement.
“After 20 years with the Group, Lee’s contribution has been significant. Lee was instrumental in reinventing our Styletread business, now firmly established as Australia’s leading online footwear retailer. Lee was the driving force behind the Group’s digital integration following a series of acquisitions, laying a solid foundation for future transformation projects.
“The strong results we have experienced across our digital channels over the last six months are a testament to the groundwork that Lee and his team have undertaken these past few years. I have great confidence in our CX function and am excited for the future success of this team under new leadership.”
Speaking with Lee Munro today, he expressed, “I am very proud of the role I have played in MFG’s success. Twenty years ago, when I joined the business as its twelfth employee, we could never have imagined this growth and the vital role that technology would play. It has been immensely fulfilling to see the Group develop to over 2000 wonderful Team Members. This was a difficult decision that I did not make lightly, but I felt the time was right for me to step aside and seek new opportunities.”
Munro will transition to his non-executive role over the next few months, remaining dedicated to supporting the Group’s future success.
Speaking to the Group’s leadership, Jay Munro shared, “Whilst we have a strong family influence on our board, the Group has been actively building its executive capability over the last three years, with contributions and expertise from outside the family adding significant value to our growth.”
